Cycle 1 Update – Hanging in There
Just a brief update on how Stine is getting along midway through her first 48-hour cycle of chemotherapy. She slept adequately last night and her appetite is good (she was just mowing down some “Chicken In A Biskit” topped with a sprayable canned cheese, “Easy Cheese & Bacon”). Her taste buds are sensitive to spicy foods and the bitter flavors are enhanced.
She is still quite sensitive to cold- all of her “cold” beverages are heated to 105F in a small oven before she can drink them. Her other chemo-induced symptoms are a small red-flush on her chest, shortness of breath, nasal congestion and blurry vision. However, her fatigue today is noticeable- she hasn’t been out of bed too much and was unable to work. The bed makes Chess happy but he would certainly be even happier if she could take him on a walk.
The 5-FU finishes up tomorrow and we can remove the “lemon” pump so Stine can get a bit more freedom of movement. I would also hope the cold sensitivity begins to ease-off. The best news is that she has had no nausea or peripheral neuropathy. Keeping our fingers crossed!
