Cycle 1 – Still Recovering
I’m not ready to write a lot today, but I’m well enough to give a short update. Still fighting fatigue, but my appetite is better so I’m able to fill up with more fuel. My tastebuds seem to be getting back to a more normal state and my brain is more willing to let me eat. Getting out of bed and getting dressed today was a small effort, but I managed to take a longer walk around the block. Perhaps I’ll challenge myself a bit extra and do a short walk right before bedtime.
The weirdest thing is happening to my eyes when I walk at night though. Cold (Southern California cold) wind irritates the thin line of skin around my eyes and makes my eyelids twitch. I still get an occasional tingling in my hands, but manage to stop that when I put my hands under a heated blanket. It’s clear that one of the chemo components, I believe Oxaliplatin, is making my nerves super sensitive. The pain in the abdomen after the surgery is elevated, my hearing is sensitive (I also have a faint tinnitus) and I can’t look at a screen for too long – in addition to a still lingering but fading cold sensitivity. My lips are sore and I have several massive sneeze fits (I’m so happy the wound in my belly healed well before this treatment).
Anyway, definitely not symptom free today, but better than yesterday. Hope my appetite and energy are both better tomorrow.
