Enjoying the view

I have enjoyed two days with hardly any side effects, only a few minor ones. Even my taste buds have had a relief and been almost normal. And it doesn’t feel like my teeth are falling out anymore. It gives me hope that when this is over I will feel normal – albeit wiser and more appreciative of the little things. I took Chess for a walk before dinner yesterday and when I walked down the hill a cold wind from the Pacific swooshed over my face and hands – and I had no other cold sensation or spasm other than a normal wonderful cold fresh tingling on my skin. The only spasm I got was the big smile I had on my face and bubbly laughter. I took several deep breaths of fresh cold air between each giggle. If anyone had seen me they must have though I was going mad.

I try to as much as possible enjoy the view from this resting point in my ascent without thinking too much about what is lining up in a couple of days. I’m trying to finish the things I have to do at work before I slowly fade out by the end of the week. I’m also planning and prepping some food that can easily be heated up – and that I believe my taste buds will not reject. I got a surprise delivery on the doorstep today. A full box of fruit, berries and vegetables that Kathleen, Emily and Bertrand had ordered for us. Thank you! I can’t wait to cook and eat them. What a treat. That too brought a big smile on my face.

All parks and public areas are closed down. We are no longer allowed to move outside of our neighborhood other than to go buy essentials and we are urged to wear face masks. We are forecasted several days of rain, so we wouldn’t have gone on any longer hikes anyway, so isolation isn’t too bad. We still enjoy each other’s company and have our own little projects. James made donuts (thank you Carol) and lattes for us today – my first coffee in two and a half months. The only one going stir crazy so far is the dog.

At the moment the number of infected people doesn’t look too bad in San Diego and Carlsbad. It looks like it is relatively under control here. I don’t know how many people that are hospitalized. For those that are interested, here is a link to info on confirmed cases in San Diego.
