It’s the first time for everything
If you can’t go to the mountain, bring the mountain to you – or something… The mountain is unfortunately not The Sierras. That trip is postponed until I’m not on blood thinners anymore – however I wish I could but I can’t bring The Sierras home. But, when you can’t go to the hairdresser, and the hairdresser can’t come to you – you have to fix it yourself. So I cut my own hair! I have never done that before, not even as a rebellious child (not pointing any fingers here, just slightly south). I was fed up with thin frizzy tips that my hairband constantly got stuck in – and unbelievably intricate knots. So to get that irritation out of my hair – pun intended – a big yay for You Tube and whoever wanted to tell the world how to cut long hair yourself. I can’t say it’s perfect but is is not bad for a first time – it’s reasonably even – and it even looks like my hair is thicker. It did not feel thick at all while I was cutting. It looks and feels like I’ve lost close to half my hair, but it’s only me that can see it, so thank you to my genes that gave me a good set of hair. I’m quite pleased that I dared to start cutting and succeeded pretty well.
It has been some very good days since I updated the blog last. I almost feel normal despite of my rather bruised midline due to daily injections and two pretty itchy small incisions. I’m purple, blue, green and yellow. I still have more sensitive lips and fingertips than usual, but it’s getting better. The tinnitus is still there too, but I’m mostly managing to ignore it. Today we walked two long walks with the dog and got in more than three miles. Both the dog and I were very happy about that. I’m glad that my mind for the most part tends to forget that I’m sick and that I have a big surgery coming up. No point in thinking too much about it – that would just ruin these weeks.
We are still largely social distancing, but we enjoyed a small front yard get together yesterday with Emily, Kathleen and Bertrand. On Saturday we had a nice morning coffee/tea with Carol, and a nice afternoon beer with Deena and Will. Thank you all for coming over. We are for sure getting a good use of our front yard and not just for parking cars. Now we are enjoying a great antipasto salad that Lois dropped over. Carol and Deena also dropped over stuff for Benjamin to bring to the house he will move into with friends when he goes back to college. We are trying to plan for some kind of normality in the near future.

Nice to see front yard getting used. It’s actually very nice with the trees!
